How to Use Beard Oil
Maketh Man Beard and Skin Oils have been formulated primarily for your skin. Healthy luscious whiskers need optimum growing conditions. That’s why we chose organic, cold pressed plant oils as a base for our beard and skin oils. Used daily, your skin will feel moisturised, without feeling greasy, with softer appearing wrinkles and a noticeable improvement in the smoothness and condition of your beard and moustache. For ultimate results pair our oils with Maketh Man Beard & Moustache Balms.
Step 1 - How much beard oil..
Well unfortunately it really depends on you… Yep we are all different and the amount depends on a number of factors:
How oily/dry is your skin in the first place
How long is your beard
The porosity of your whiskers (how easy does your beard absorb oil)
The weather (your skin can feel dryer or oilier depending on climatic conditions)
We suggest starting with 2-3 drops in the palm of your hand and adjust from there. After roughly 30 minutes run your hands through your beard. If it feels quite oily then you have probably used too much, if it feels like straw then too little. Too much oil could potentially lead to blocked pores, pimples and poor styling so best to start small. Using it on a regular basis is the best way to gauge how much your skin and beard needs.
Step 2 - When to apply
A definite advantage is to apply after washing your face or taking a hot shower, when your hair and skin are clean. Lightly towel dry your beard first though so it is not dripping wet (avoid vigorous rubbing as this will encourage static and your whiskers to stick out). You can even give your beard a light comb with our Model 2 or 8 Chicago Beard Combs. Made from Carbon fibre, these award-winning, super tough combs won’t rust or go mouldy when left in your bathroom.
Step 3 - using your hands
Once your whiskers are dry to the touch, put 2-3 drops of oil into the palm of your hand and rub onto your fingertips. Then REALLY massage the oil into your skin getting right underneath your beard, not forgetting under your moustache and chin. Don’t drip oil directly onto the beard like you see in all those online images, that just gets messy.
Step 4 - what to do with the excess oil
Rub any remaining oil from your hands onto the beard itself and on your face, avoiding the eye area.
Step 5 - Comb through
Lastly, use a beard comb or brush to spread the oil through the beard, coaxing any stray hairs into place.
Next steps
Remember to allow 10 minutes or so for the beard oil to absorb. Then apply our Beard & Moustache Balm to condition, protect and seal the hair follicles. Any residue can be used in your hair.
